The gold ring which he returned to her after he bravely rescued her is visible on Snorkmaiden’s ankle and the eyes of the two trolls are closed as they share a moment of love. Around them are lush flowers portrayed in the simple signature style of Tove Jansson’s illustrations, and strange insects and creatures that peer from the undergrowth.
